About Cybersecurity Fundamentals
Cybersecurity fundamentals are the basic principles and practices used to protect computer systems, networksand data from cyber threats, unauthorized access, and attacks. It focuses on ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of information.
The Cybersecurity Fundamentals course has been designed as a structured 12-week learning program delivered through a Learning Management System (LMS) with Virtual Lab. The objective of this course is to introduce students to the essential concepts of cybersecurity and provide practical exposure to security challenges and solutions in modern digital infrastructure.
The course structure combines content-based learning, activity-based learning, self-learning modules, and virtual laboratory exercises to create a comprehensive and engaging educational experience.
Project Background
This LMS-based course module has been developed as part of the Cybersecurity in Power Systems project funded by AICTE under the MODROB scheme. The initiative aims to modernize laboratory facilities and integrate advanced cybersecurity training tools and virtual learning environments for engineering students.
The project has been implemented at ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru, with the goal of enhancing student competencies in cybersecurity awareness, practical skills, and research in secure power system infrastructure.
Course Structure
These modules introduce fundamental cybersecurity concepts through structured learning materials and guided activities. Each module includes learning materials, interactive activities, Practical exercises using virtual labs, short assessmentsto reinforce conceptual understanding.
